Who Has The Bigger Eyes

Mom was playing with Mee and Dad was watching the news on TV which coincidentally was featuring Mukhriz.

Suddenly Mom said, “Wow, look how big those eyes are. They are so big and bulging too.”

Dad looked at her, confused. “Are you refering to him (Mukhriz) or the cat?” he asked.

So people, have a look here.

Who do you think has the bigger eyes? No prizes for guessing who got my vote :D

I Busted My Knee

It happened one day at gym. There I was pushing myself in Body Combat when the ache started on my right knee. Thinking it’s because of how hard I’m pushing myself, I ignored it and carried on. My legs always ache after a class anyway, so I figured it will go away soon enough.

Well, it didn’t go away. After 2 weeks, I started to get a little worried. It’s really uncomfortable put any weight on that leg and since the right leg is the supporting leg when getting on and off my car, that’s an added strain there.

The good news is the pain did not get any worse, thank God! At the same time, it’s not getting any better either.

I saw a doctor about it yesterday. Wouldn’t want to risk any more serious injuries there. WBDD is coming up and I don’t want to have to drop out of the opening dance because of this.

Thankfully the doctor said since there is no swelling and inflamation, the problem can be taken care of with meds. I don’t have to go for X-Rays either. But he did advice me to wear a knee brace until the pain subsides and take it easy during gym, so this means no Body Combat or Step classes for me until then sob, sob :’)

Looks like until then, I’m gonna be a regular face in the Pilates and Yoga classes.

Angels On Earth

Angels sang on Easter morning in the Holy Spirit Cathedral. Their voices were beautiful, floating light yet powerful above the congregation and lends a heavenly touch to the celebration.

The HSC Choir did a marvellous job indeed. But then, we always come through every single time, if the compliments and accolades from fellow parishioners are any indication.

Amen!

I’ve been in this choir for 14 years already. Wow! Time really flies. It seems like only yesterday that I was a newbie sitting behind the choir. Now I’ve made my way to the front.

I’m glad I didn’t join in the singing for this Easter. Work commitment and activities for WBDD means that I have to miss out on most practice sessions. This has given me the opportunity to really hear the choir.

Funny huh, after all this time in the choir, I’m only really hearing them sing for the first time. When you’re right there in the middle, you’re not getting the picture of what the group sounds like, the harmonies of voices and how powerful the combined effect is.

I must say, I was impressed. We can easily rival any world class choir out there. Bravo, guys!

If people complained before that they can’t hear the sopranos, this will shut them up. Their voices were beautiful and light, not overpowering at all. The men balanced out the ladies perfectly.

I may not be singing as part of the choir this time, but rest assured, I was singing with you throughout.

The choir is taking a break for now, but we will start practicing for Christmas soon. I will return to the fold then.

Hello, QC Lacking, Aren’t We?

One thing I really enjoy about shopping at Tesco is the spacious aisle that I can stroll along comfortably. There is also a wide variety of groceries, although some necessities like my “roti panjang” seem to be frequently out of stock.

Their prices are cheaper compared to other places too. A lot of people say that their in-house brand products are comparable in quality to other more well known brands. Case in point, Mee’s favorite kitty biscuits which is 1/3 the price of its branded counterpart.

However, while I can’t complain about their groceries, they really need to pay attention to their other items.

During the previous baking session, I suggested to a galfriend to get one of those mug sieves favored by the likes of Martha, Rachel and Jaime. Since I’m going off to KL in July, there’s a chance I might get to stop by Ikea so I offered to get one for her there.

But then again, why wait till July? Surely some store in this little island carry the thing as well. I decided to browse around Tesco to see if they have it.

Well, I got good news and bad news.

Good news is, Tesco does have it.

Bad news is, of around 12 of them being displayed, not a single one of them is working. That’s right. A big fat ZERO!

Yet there they are, all arranged neatly and displayed on their little shelf space.

Wow, don’t these people check their stock? I mean, it’s not exactly possible to miss how damaged those things were. And I mean damage as in missing or broken parts.

I think it’s more to do with the attitude of the staff. I remember shopping for a table top Christmas tree one year and saw their promotion. I found that their trees were seriously damaged and when I pointed it out to their staff, all they could tell me was that the trees arrived in that condition. The damage was caused during transportation, so there’s nothing much they can do about it.

And because of the insanely low price, well, people are not gonna complain about it anyway.

Another thing is the lingerie department. I like to get bras for my belly dance costumes from there obviously because it’s cheaper. I can’t really take a Triumph or La Senza then cover them with beads and sequins, can I? That will be throwing money away, especially since I’ll only be wearing them once or twice.

They have quite a good selection but beware of things like mismatched bra straps in particular. If you don’t like the original straps that come with the bra, feel free to grab the ones that you do like. It’s OK. It’s allowed. Try pulling this off at a Triumph or La Senza counter and you’ll get escorted out by security.

But at Tesco, heck you can just take off the strap you like and nobody will blink an eye. That’s what I did for my latest costume, but in all fairness, I took the strap from another bra of the same design. The bra I got had diamanté adorning the straps but several were missing. So I dug around and finally found a pair that was intact. That was all.

So when it comes to buying stuff from Tesco, groceries are fine, but for the other stuff, I wouldn’t mind forking out a little extra to get them from other places if it means better quality.

Gold Rush

This was the scene in front of the Baskin Robbins stand at Tesco the other day.

It’s the usual end of the month rush for Baskin Robbins ice cream when they offer a discount. With that long queue, you’d expect there to be gold or at least a really huge price cut.

Personally, I’m not really that big a fan of ice cream because they always make me thirsty.

Still, it’s nice to know that in spite of the recession, they are making some simple pleasures of life affordable. Even if it is just once a month.

Hidden Benefits Of Body Combat

There I was in Body Combat class the other day, fully charged, kicking and punching and shouting, pushing myself to give my all when it started. That slow rumbling down the pit of my stomach like a volcano waiting to erupt.

At first, it was easy to ignore but then it started to become really uncomfortable. I thought it was because of the 100Plus I had before class, so I pushed on, ignoring the discomfort and instead concentrated on finishing the class, whatever it takes.

Half an hour later I was running out of there before the dizziness, nausea and pain consumes me. By the time I got my ass to the bathroom, I was starting to see the black dots in front of my eyes.

Well, the volcano did erupt. Don’t mess with Mother Nature!

So this gets me wondering. Does all that punching, kicking and shouting somehow stimulate the bowels as well? Are there other benefits to Body Combat besides a good cardio workout that we haven’t realized yet?

Considering that this is probably like the fourth time this has happened to me, it’s worth looking into. I mean, I don’t experience this during Body Step, no matter how tough it is.

Hmmm…

A Mixed Tape For Baby

Butterfly by Mariah Carey

I’m not such a big fan of Mimi but with this song I made my wish for her and she came to me. That’s why this song will stay forever in my heart as her song.

If Tomorrow Never Comes by Ronan Keating

I wondered if I loved her enough in her life. Did I do everything to make sure that she never feels sad or rejected?

And yeah, sometimes late at night I’ll just sit and watch her sleeping peacefully next to me. It gives me a sense of peace and happiness just knowing she’s there.

Can’t Take My Eyes Off You by Andy Williams

This one doesn’t need any explanations.

I love you BABY
And if it’s quite alright I need you BABY
Through all my lonely nights I love you BABY

To Where You Are by Josh Groban

I still get weepy when I hear this song. Although Josh sang this song for his mother in Ally McBeal, I can’t help but feel his loss and longing for that loved one to still be there.

I dedicate these songs for you, Baby. Thanks for being a part of my life.

Is There A Bun In The Oven?

Dad asked me the strangest question today.

Apparently he had heard what he thought was me retching in the bathroom the other morning and thought that I might be, erm, knocked up, so to speak.

Well, let me put your mind to rest, Dad. No, you’re not gonna be a grandpa any time soon. I’m not baking an apple pie, although I might try my hand at it, literally and serve it with ice cream, not serve ice cream TO it. Aunt Flo’s still gonna make her monthly visits as scheduled, which is a comfort, annoying as they might be.

As for the sounds, it’s just me doing the stuff most people do as part of their morning bathroom routines but are too embarassed to admit it. Sometimes, I overdo it because it feels so good, thus the retching sound.

So, all’s well.

Weeds Pt 2

Here’s something I learned recently about why some women (especially those from certain regions) let their lalang grow out of control while the rest of us keep up a strict regiment of waxing, shaving, tweezing, threading and whatever other methods available out there to get rid of the fuzz.

I’m referring to anywhere that lalang should be trimmed, not just down South lah.

The first reason is because they live in a cold climate and the lalang helps to keep them warm. The second reason, I find peculiar. It’s a sign of their sexual prowess.

OK, their guys find that the more dense their lalang, the sexier they are or have the potential to be?

Is that why the starlets from that region let their weeds grow wild and free?

Is that why Tang Wei kept herself au naturel for Lust Caution?

Because I know if a lot of me are gonna be seen, I’ll wanna make sure I get myself perfectly waxed, shaved and tweezed before that, know what I mean? ;)

Well, I’ve heard of other more erm…unconventional, to put it politely, tastes. Guess this is just one of them.

Spices Giving Me Crazy Cravings!!!!!

So I’ve been here at Park Royal for 3 days now. Spices are very critical to their ambience. Heck, even their meeting rooms are named after spices. There is Halia Room, Serai Room and the one I’m in is Pandan Room.

However, that doesn’t mean that the room smells like it’s name. Pandan Room smells distinctively of lemongrass. There is also a very strong aroma of mixed spices in the lobby area.

This has given me a very strong craving. I’m hungry all the time. It’s a good thing we have teabreaks. Of course, I decided on the food to be served. Park Royal’s choices of snacks are extensive. However, to make things easier for me, I just concentrated on the finger food.

Their cinnamon danish is absolutely heavenly!!!!!!

You can guess that I have been eating like a vacuum cleaner these few days hehehe…

Oh yeah, coming out of the elevator in front of Tiffins Restaurant, I always get a whiff of sesame seed oil and ginger which leads to a craving for pork cooked with sesame seed oil and fried ginger. This is a form of confinement food that Mom occassionally cooks.

Hmm…is this some sort of strategy to make people hungry so they can make more from their restaurants?

Gonna bug Mom to cook the pork dish for me today since she hasn’t planned what to cook yet. Hopefully it’ll be there waiting for me when I get home ^_^
