I Still Prefer Ours
So I finally had the opportunity to go try out this quaint little Italian cafè that some gal pals have been raving about, especially their supposedly heavenly crème brulèe.
Sorry, girls, but I can’t say I liked it as much as you girls. It tastes more like hoon kuih than crème brulèe. There was not enough vanila and the custard was a little too hard to get that melt in your mouth texture that I like. I’ll take Ice Ice Baby’s version any day.
Our version is still superior
Having said that, the other food in the menu is not bad and portions are huge. I liked that they come and shave cheese on my pasta instead of giving me the usual tub of Permesan. But too bad, the guy doing the shaving refuses to give me the whole block of cheese saying that it will ruin the taste of the dish >..<
I asked for Cannelloni, a rare dish in this backwoods of a country which they have but it seems like it is not in their menu for the night. Couldn’t import any, eh guys?
In fact, there were no specials that night either.
As for drinks, nothing to shout about here. My lime lassi was too sour, as is my dinner companions’ juices.
So what do I think about my first experience there? Definitely not up to what I expected after hearing all about it from my friends. Will probably have gatherings with friends there but only because of affordability.
Still, watching Froggy getting acquainted with the various ingredients commonly found in Italian dishes was interesting
On a side note, saw the loser whom a girlfriend used to date there. Tried to snap a photo of him to send to her but he left too soon.
