Eat To Live Or Live To Eat?
It’s Dad’s birthday today, so I took the parents to my fave steamboat restaurant, Xuan Xin.
One thing I noticed of late, I don’t eat the way I used to anymore after losing all that weight. Not that I’m complaining, I love my new figure.
So after just 1 round of the many varieties of balls and the meats from the tapenyaki section, I was done. The parents finished the rest.
What happened? There was a time when I used to be able to make repeated trips to the buffet line. Nowadays, a beef burger with egg and cheese feels like 3-course dinner when it used to be just satisfying.
These days, food to me is just a sustainance, something to give my body fuel. In fact, it has been a long time since I prowled the streets or food blogs looking for a new place with good food.
It’s really just a means to an end. I eat because I need to, simple as that. Oh, I still enjoy my favorite foods. I just can’t gorge myself with them like I used to.
Rice is public enemy #1. Mom must be pleased, because with the price hike of rice, she’s definitely saving a lot.
Sigh…I get the feeling that very soon, nobody will invite me to buffets anymore. It’ll be just sheer waste of money.
