Starvation

It is now official! I have not had any food for 24 hours, not since lunch yesterday, in fact.

I must have caught some sort of stomach flu. Even mom’s super-delicious chicken rice failed to entice me to have a nibble when normally, I will be eating a mountain. Surprisingly I’m feeling fine. No bouts of dizziness so far. Hopefully, I can eat something when I go home for lunch later on.

I do hope it’s not a fever.  I did experience some joint aches and chills last night but some fever medication did the trick.  Well, I DID go through a 3 hour jam session during Celebrity’s hafla last weekend, so some aches are to be expected.

Keeping my fingers cross that I’ll be fine.

Celebrity Fitness Hafla

Celebrity Fitness had its first hafla last weekend.  So we decided to go check it out.  Price for tickets is RM15.00 which includes dinner and lucky draw.  Pretty cheap.

This is the first time I actually went into Celebrity Fitness.  Of course they collected our contact at the door so they can "sell" to us later on, but I decided to fake mine.  I don’t want to receive junk SMSes for offers I will not be interested in, thank you very much.

Got a surprise at the buffet line - David, ex instructor from my gym who taught practically every class there is except for Yoga.  Dinner was pretty simple, don’t want to over eat anyway.  I found out long ago that you can’t belly dance with something in your stomach.  Even something as simple as a cup of Milo will make it somewhat difficult.

I figured every girl there will go for the traditional Egyption look, so I opted for the Gypsy look.  Found the skirt from Chinatown Fashion a few doors away from Sam’s Batik.  Oh well, Sam’s variety of belly dance paraphernalia is just not what it used to be.  Chinatown, although not that much variety, is definitely cheaper.  The plus side, the tau keh soh is also an avid belly dancer, so there will always be stuff to talk about with her.

After dinner is when the hafla started and it didn’t end until a little before 11.00 pm - 3 solid hour of non stop jam session.  Phew!  3 dancers led the dance sessions.

Ms L - More of a fusion style, beautiful figure.  Long legs and torso and a non existent tummy makes her stand out amongst the other 2.  She adds a modern twist to her choreography so it’s really fun.

Ms B - Cute little lady who also teaches at my gym.  I love her outfit with the flowers in her hair.  She is a protege of Shirlynn from KL, so her style is more traditional.

Ms A - On the surface, I can understand why some people enjoy her class.  It’s such a good workout.  On the downside, I don’t think she understands the fundamentals of belly dance techniques.

At the end of the 3 hours, my spine was protesting and I was dead tired.  Didn’t win anything in the lucky draw either, although we were kinda aiming for at least 1 of the 2 bottles of wine.  Oh well, better luck next time, huh?

Oh yeah, there was a solo performance from a male belly dancer.  It was very humbling to see that someone his size can shimmy better than us females (blush!).

Picture taken with Ms B just before we left.  Didn’t have a lot of time to take photos as we were busy dancing.  Quite a lot of people actually dropped out of the jam session halfway.

Now, I have Conny’s Saturday Night Fever jam session at the end of the month to look forward to.
